The National Animal Health Monitoring System Seeks your Help in Selecting Topics for its Upcoming Equine Study

FORT COLLINS, Colo., August 10, 2023 — The USDA’s National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS) is in the development stage of its upcoming 4th national study of the U.S. equine industry and is seeking your involvement to shape the study’s objectives. This is your opportunity to communicate the information you want to know about the equine industry.

To provide your input, use this 10-minute survey: link. The survey will be open through October 1, 2023. We encourage individuals and organizations to share the link to this survey with friends, colleagues, and members.

The NAHMS equine study, tentatively planned for 2026, will provide important information about management practices used on U.S. equine operations and will take a national, in-depth look at the industry’s most pressing health issues. Your input is essential if we are to address specific needs and information gaps in the equine industry.

Results of previous NAHMS studies of the equine industry, including our most recent study from 2015, are available at: link.

Inquiries regarding the survey or NAHMS equine studies may be sent to NAHMS@usda.gov.
