Equine Industry Executive Forum
In 2017, American Horse Council President, Julie Broadway, and American of Association Equine Practitioners Executive Director, David Foley, were discussing the value and benefits of networking and collaborating with peers to support and help one another with the challenges faced in association C-Suites. From this casual conversation the “Equine Industry Executives’ Forum” was formed.
Broadway stated “David and I wanted to create a community where association leaders could candidly talk about association challenges and collaborate on possible solutions. We also wanted an educational component so we could call upon subject matter experts and thought leaders to share policies or practices to continue to expand our professional knowledge. And of course, it’s great networking and professional support – Who better to understand and sympathize what you’re going through than someone with similar experiences and challenges?”
Foley added “The value of peer-to-peer networking just can’t be overstated. We all deal with similar challenges in managing an association, no matter what breed or discipline group you represent.”
Since 2018, the group has heard presentations ranging from
cybersecurity,
- Telecommuting best practices
- Fraud prevention
- Succession planning
- Risk mitigation
Participants are also part of a google group that enables everyone to receive articles, pose questions, and share sample documents. There are currently about 50 CEOs & EDs participating.
Broadway,” The group typically meets in person at the AHC Conference but has also been meeting virtually at other points throughout the year to hear speakers. Right now, we are planning a meeting in June 2022 and soliciting topics.”
