AQHA Director Ken Mumy Appointed to
American Horse Council’s Board of Trustees

WASHINGTON, DC – Ken Mumy, a director with the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) since 1996 and first vice president of the AQHA executive committee, was elected to the American Horse Council’s board of trustees.

“Ken Mumy is an ideal choice to represent the American Quarter Horse Association and their members on the American Horse Council’s board of trustees,” said AHC President Jay Hickey. “His obvious enthusiasm and proven commitment to the Quarter Horse breed will provide an important perspective in his duties as a board member.”

Mr. Mumy, of Metamora, Mich., joined AQHA more than 30 years ago and was appointed to the membership committee in 1992. He served as vice chair of that committee from 2000 to 2003 and chairman from 2003 to 2004. A founding member of AQHA’s Affiliate Council, Mr. Mumy was also a member of the Hall of Fame committee and governance task force.

An avid supporter of American Quarter Horses for more than 35 years, Mr. Mumy and his wife, Maryellen, focus primarily on cutting, showing and recreational riding.

The American Horse Council’s board of trustees is the 14-member governing body of the organization. Each member represents an important segment of the horse industry and an important constituency of the American Horse Council.

As the national association representing all segments of the horse industry in Washington, D.C., the American Horse Council works daily to represent equine interests and opportunities. Organized in 1969, the AHC promotes and protects the industry by communicating with Congress, federal agencies, the media and the industry on behalf of all horse related interests each and every day.

The AHC is member supported by individuals and organizations representing virtually every facet of the horse world from owners, breeders, veterinarians, farriers, breed registries and horsemen's associations to horse shows, race tracks, rodeos, commercial suppliers and state horse councils.
